Subway Restaurants just partnered with the NIH (National Institutes of Health) to launch NIH’s educational program “We Can!”
“We Can!” stands for Ways to Enhance Childrens Activity & Nutrition. The partnership was launched on March 25th in Washington DC with a P.E.P rally (Play More, Eat Right and Push Away the Screen) at the D.C. Armory. Olympian-soccer legend, Tabare “Tab” Ramos hosted the event, alongside boxing champion, Laila Ali and Jared Fogle, spokesperson for Subway Restaurants.
The P.E.P. rally had kids moving and playing popular and educational games like basketball, soccer, and Energy In/Energy Out, a tag-like game that emphasizes the importance of energy balance for a healthy weight. Children were also taught about the importance of energy balance and maintaining a healthy weight in an effort to battle juvenile obesity, primarily for kids ages 8-13 years old.
Some kids from the Latin American Youth Center were also at the event, where they participated in all the sports and activities with soccer player Tab Ramos who also informed them and educated them on healthy living and eating.
