Guillermo Del Toro is best known for his wondrous works in the Hellboy series, The Orphange and Pan’s Labyrinth, to name but a few. On June 2nd, the imaginative producer/director/writer releases his first novel, along with award-winning author Chuck Hogan, entitled The Strain.
The 416-page book is the first in a trilogy and begins with a plane headed from Berlin to New York. Upon landing at JFK, the plane suddenly goes completely dark. Nothing is working and no one is moving. Once boarded, all but four passengers remain alive. Come to find out a vampire virus has been released on New York City, triggering a massive battle between citizens and The Master. Does that sound epic or what?
If you’re a fan of Del Toro and/or love thrillers, make sure to kick off your summer reading with The Strain: Book One of The Strain Trilogy. Just be sure to sleep with the lights on…
