Put the Breaks On

If it’s not one thing, it’s another, right? The economy is in a downfall and health fears are dominating the news. We’ve seen better days, no doubt. That’s why there’s no time like the present to give yourself a few breaks.

Here are some ways you can have a good time, blow off some steam and save money in the process:Put the Breaks On

  1. Slip into someone else’s world for a little while by seeing the latest flick. Save some dough by going in the afternoon when ticket prices are usually cheaper. This way you can get your popcorn, sit in a dark theater and laugh, cry or scream your head off.
  2. Visit your local library, check out a few books  and get to reading.
  3. Throw a mani/pedi party at your place. Have your friends each bring a couple of their favorite polishes, put some music on and have fun.
  4. Spend the day cutting out stories and images from your favorite magazines, then stick them up on a clipboard. They provide instant inspiration.
  5. Bake some cupcakes. It may sound silly but who doesn’t love cupcakes? Have fun decorating them, too with silly sayings or images.
  6. Check out what’s going on at your local museum and art galleries. They usually have student discounts.
  7. Clean out your closet. Yeah, it may sound boring but you’ll be amazed at what you find in there. Donate what you don’t wear anymore to charity or you local church.
  8. Looking to save money on fashion? Throw a purse swapping party with your pals.
  9. Re-decorate your room. It’s a great way to be creative while giving yourself a whole new look.
  10. Get outside and exercise!
  11. Adopt a pet.
  12. Put together a memory book of all your favorite travels or past loves.
  13. Plant some veggies and spices for your cooking needs.
  14. Take up an art, like music or illustration. You could be the next big comic book illustrator.
  15. Donate some of your time to a charity. Giving to someone else makes everyone feel better.
