Represent Your Voto Latino

In a recent CNN story, it states that in an interview with radio host Eddie “El Piolin” Sotelo, Bill Clinton remarked that “Latinos would ‘determine the nominee of the Democratic Party and the next president of the United States.’”
That’s a pretty powerful comment, but not unexpected as Latinos are the fastest growing minority group in America, and in 2008 are being courted for votes like never before. But statistics say that young Latinos are still not showing up to the polls. With 50,000 Latinos turning 18 every month, many aren’t registered to vote. Enter Voto Latino, a non-partisan organization whose goal is to create a voice for young Latinos on important issues relating to their lives.
Founded by Rosario Dawson, Voto Latino’s mission is to “ignite this base and activate them to engage in the political process and in doing so provide a vehicle to enact positive change in their communities.” With online resources including voter registration information, statistics and political events, Voto Latino is dedicated to raising the voice of America’s young Latino population.
Voto Latino and Declare Yourself have created a four-part, telenovella stye series starring Rosario Dawson, Wilmer Valderrama (who alse directs), Mayte Garcia and Tony Plana which uses comedy to bring more attention to the serious issue of voter registration.
